In a challenging career trajectory you are, as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Sub-department of Environmental Technology (www.ete.wur.nl/UK/) responsible for the initiation and implementation of new research activities in the field of Biotechnological valorization of used water and associated resources. The focus of your research will be on removal of low concentration organic micro pollutants, such as medicines including antibiotics, personal care products, and other chemicals relevant for the resource cycles of the Biobased Economy. The challenge is to develop new technologies with novel microbiological processes in mixed redox systems, using bio membrane reactors, reactive minerals such as metal oxides, and other hybrid systems combining physical/chemical and biological methods. As such you will also play an important role within the Water Technology group of our sub department. As a staff member you will be motivating and teaching students and feed your research into our up to date courses in environmental and biobased technology. Training and coaching is provided for the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor as well to accomplish all of this. As a member of the Sub-department of Environmental Technology you are expected to attract funding and to participate in various committees. The sub department operates a unique Modular Technology Facility, supported by a well-equipped analytical and biotechnological laboratory. Functie-eisen
- a PhD degree in environmental science and technology, water biotechnology or related fields
- several years of postdoctoral experience
- knowledge of and expertise in pollutant and/or biomass bioconversion, biotechnology and associated microbiological and chemical processes
- talent for inspiring and supervising students, PhD and other researchers
- ability in acquisition of research funding
- excellent communication skills
- good didactic qualities and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students
- knowledge of -, and interest in interdisciplinary physico/chemical - biological research fields such as bio-nanotechnology, or bio-reactive surface chemistry.
Arbeidsvoorwaarden
As we will only be selecting outstanding candidates to take part in Tenure Track, this will be a good stepping stone to a further career within Wageningen UR or elsewhere.
We offer you a temporary contract with the possibility of extension, for 32-38 hours per week. Gross Salary: from € 3195,- to € 4374,- for an Assistant Professor and € 4428,- to € 5920,- for an Associate Professor based on full time employment and dependent on expertise and experience.
